Shelby Coplen is a board-certified physician assistant specializing in dermatology. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the Tucson Dermatology Society and Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Before attending graduate school, Shelby attended Indiana University where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology with honors.
She then pursued her graduate studies at Butler University where she graduated with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies. She has special interests in both assisting with surgical procedures and treating autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis. She works to improve her patients’ quality of life by offering education on disease prevention and lifestyle changes for their individual dermatologic conditions.
Prior to working in dermatology, she worked as a physician assistant in gastroenterology, where she gained experience working with many conditions that have associated dermatologic complications including inflammatory bowel disease and liver cirrhosis.
In her free time, Shelby enjoys hiking, traveling, and all things outdoors. She currently resides in Tucson with her husband, a PhD candidate at UA.
